Dear Internet, help me apologise
Anyone who knows me knows that I have a big mouth, and that I’m likely to shoot it off at the worst possible times. Often however, what really gets me in trouble is not when I’m trying to be offensive but just don’t think before I speak.
Last night I said something incredibly silly about the lovely Internet maven, Mab397 (pictured to the right). Mandi is one of the nicest people in Sydney’s digital scene, and so obviously I feel a bit bad about this turn of events: so I’m asking the Internet to help make Mandi forgive me.
EDIT: People keep asking me what I did - I accidentally made a derogatory comment about her age, and that’s all I will say.
Basically the goal is to get the hashtag #ImSorryMandi trending on Twitter, as a sign of my regret. You can attach the tag to your favourite apology songs on Blip.fm, link to photos on Flickr or videos on YouTube that best sum up forgiveness, write your own blog post about how Mandi should forgive me, it doesn’t matter, just make sure you use the #ImSorryMandi hashtag. Linking to this post at the same time will probably help clear up any confusion too (you can use the short URL http://bit.ly/ImSorryMandi)
For the less creative, I’ve even written a basic tweet that you can just copy and paste:
Everyone knows that @Warlach can be an idiot, but he really is sorry @Mab397. #ImSorryMandi http://bit.ly/ImSorryMandi
Thanks in advance everybody! Encourage your friends to help spread the word and hopefully Mandi will forgive me for being a rude twat.

Hmmmm. I have no idea what you said, but I am older than Mandi so you should aplogise to me too.
Ok so for the record:
In his infinite wisdom, @Warlach decided to say in reference to a 22 year old male in our presence that I could be his mother (apparently because he looks so young). In response to my first heart attack he clarified by saying but only if I had him when I was really young and slutty. When I asked him if he just called me young and slutty, he said “No, you’re old and..” the rest was cut off by heart attack number two. Despite the repeated efforts of everyone around him to get him to shut up, @Warlach continued to dig himself into a bigger hole, even saying repeatedly “No no! I can fix this!”
He then managed to start saying something about young and slutty again as he clocked eyes with a young girl at the table behind us (who didn’t seem to mind as much as I had but that’s another story). Do you think he shut up then? NO! OF COURSE NOT!
So whaddya think? Is #ImSorryMandi still the right hashtag? Or should we go with #stringhimbytheballs?
Why is this blog post even in existence?
Seriously?
Man up and just apologise WITHOUT making a spectacle of it all.
You are using this opportunity to promote yourself, and as such, if there is a genuine apology due here, you are devaluing it by the manner in which you are handling it.
Poor work, Warlach
In my defence, I qualified that I was if anything, if ANYTHING, calling you young and slutty. I should post the transcript as I remember it but am finally taking that ’shutting up’ advice…
actually i think all evidence to the contrary!!
It’s like a trainwreck that keeps… on… giving. Uh.
(Metaphor wires crossed. So sorry.)
Really? So you want everyone to apologise FOR you? I think flowers and/or chocolates and/or profuse apologies from yourself will be the right thing..
I’m just going to Tsk Severely and Meaningfully from the corner
@Scott Man up? You’ve got to frakken kidding me. Clearly I have already apologised to Mandi on the night, but instead of coming up with something boring and traditional to add to the base apology, like flowers/chocolates, I thought I would have some fun on Twitter seeing as social media is where both Mandi and I live and work.
This was not designed to self promote, at what point does me admitting I acted like a twat work as self promotion. Sheesh.

Scott if I was as humourless as you then @Warlach would be in *serious* trouble
Have a nice day!

Enough of all this internet hoo-ha; there’s clearly only one way to solve this dispute:
FARADAY CAGE FIGHT!
FARADAY CAGE FIGHT:
Two go in, no reception comes out…
What would have been a small social gaffe has been amplified through the social media sphere. I think this is an excellent case study in the power of social media, particularly when applied to people with immense social influence and giant digital footprints.
I propose #forgivenessfriday as tomorrow’s hashtag, and we can all do a blog post about the last time we used social media to apologise or forgive others for transgressions
I think maybe women need to get over being paranoid about their age… she says, being utterly paranoid about totally being old enough to be the parent of a 22 year old…
At first I thought this was just a stupid internet joke. Then it became apparent that it was in fact a stupid internet joke.
This illustrates the power of social media? Please, spare me. All this does is clearly illustrates the cliquey, bullshit that dribbles from ’social media experts’ and their blind followers.
Hey Blesmond, you have no sense of humour and no idea.
1. On actual Twitter click throughs alone Warlach has generated real traffic to his site
2. there is no denying, it has generated some social buzz.
3. No one has proclaimed themselves an expert
4. there’s this expression called “tongue in cheek” - you may want to look it up
This whole thing is like so 24hrs ago….
FFS children, STFU and grow up. Buncha narcissistic wankers. The lot of you.
Weeeeeeeeeeee!
What a fun ride.
The difference between young and slutty, and stupid, young and slutty is an unplanned child.
Mandi is clearly not stupid (and from what I’ve gathered does NOT have a 22 year old son).
Hence your comment stands and no apology should be necessary as no direct insult was made.
Just call me Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
#nocleanfeed for warlach!
So are we going with Mandy being young and slutty or is she just old ?
I can’t keep up …
Dane as Pete said, that’s so 24 hours ago. I’m sure something else will be more suitable after tonight’s shenanigans. Will keep you updated.
I wait with bated breath. I suggest recording said shenanigans so the next apology can take the form of a viral video.
Hey Tiphereth,
You tell me that I have no sense of humour and that this is all tongue in cheek, but then you go on to outline the ‘actual click-throughs’, ‘real traffic’ and ’social buzz’ that this apology generated.
Sense of humour? Yeah I find click-throughs and social buzz an absolute hoot. Life’s about more than generating ‘buzz’ and statistics.
Hurt someone’s feelings? Give them a call to apologise, it’s the sincere thing to do.
Wow, BORE-LACH, I think you need to come up with better trends…
In all seriousness, though, this is not the worst thing you’ve ever done. Throwing a chip in that girls hair at Broadway would be up there. Oh, and saying “don’t you know who I am? I’m Warlach!” to that rude waitress the other night was also pretty excruciating.
Don’t worry girl, it happens a lot to everyone, including me. But, I think she will forgive you, as long you being sincere that you have offended her…after all, we’re only human…
