Rudd Is Thicker Than Water… But Not Anymore
EDIT: So, it’s all over. Julia is in, Rudd is out, and Swan is Deputy. For the history books, Rudd stood aside so there was no vote as there was no contest. We live in interesting times.
So, tonight was interesting, to say the least. Australian politics erupted tonight with the news that Julia ‘Et Tu Brute?’ Gillard has been back by the Labor Right and others to move against Kevin ‘I Thought I Was Doing OK’ Rudd.
Naturally, with Canberra going to hell in a Spill basket the Twittersphere also exploded into speculation, breaking news and bad jokes. Being a bit of a politics nerd who lives with an even bigger political nerd, as well as others, we all followed the discussion pretty closely.
Below I’ve collected my tweets from the night, many of which pulled in info/jokes and other randomness from others. I think it’s pretty interesting to watch how the storm of information happened. If anyone has an archive of the #spill hashtag from the night I’d love to see it, so contact me via email or on Twitter.
(Oh and for those wondering, I used this Greasemonkey script to reverse the order of my tweets for easy screencapping. I will actually pull these all using Twitter’s Blackbird Pie feature at some point soon so the links are all clickable and the text searchable.)

We got different reaction on this issue. In my part, I am not even knowledgeable enough with this topic because I am not actually from Australia. But, if I just base my opinions and reaction to those people said and to what I have read, I am just one sided. It is unfair with the Rudd side. But it seems they are also undergoing a serious and a hard time these days for sure. Anyway, we have rights to express our thoughts and I do respect them.
