So… you may have noticed that I’m a bit of Batman fan, and so naturally I’m super excited about the launch of Batman: Arkham City, and if you’ve been following the news you’ll know there a bunch of custom skins that you can get depending on where you pre-order! Because there’s nothing more manly than dressing up Batman in pretty outfits, right? Right?

So, I thought I’d do a quick guide to let fellow Aussies know where to buy to get the different skins. There is other stuff you get like different DLC maps that I won’t be covering here, mostly because I don’t really care. First, lets recap on what’s available:

From left to right: Batman Beyond, The Dark Knight Returns, Earth One Batman, 1970’s Batman, The Animated Series and there’s the default Arkham City skin. OK, so here’s the run down!

The Dark Knight Returns

Easiest of all - just buy the Arkham City: Collector’s Edition and you get this one, no matter where you buy it from. Plus you get a bunch of other cool stuff, including a statue, Gotham Knight on DVD and the soundtrack etc:

Batman Beyond

This one is the GAME exclusive, and you get it (its seem) no matter which version of the game you get, as long as you preorder. Details here.

1970’s Batman

OK, this is a little odd. It’s the exclusive for EB Games but unlike the rest, it seems you only get this one if you preorder the Steel Case, regular version rather than the Collector’s Edition, so if you get your game from EB it seems you have to decide on whether you like 1970’s Batman or Dark Knight Returns Batman because it looks like you can’t get both. That said, you do get some other cool stuff, including the Under The Red Hood movie on DVD. Details here.

Animated Series and Earth One Batman

OK, so this is definitely my tip! JB Hi-Fi give you two skins, PLUS you get the Robin DLC early and the alternative Robin skin based on Red Robin from the current comics! It seems you get this no matter which pack you buy, although there’s also this PC version they’ve got listed which only comes with the Robin stuff.

Conclusion

So yes, my pick is definately to get the Collector’s Edition from JB so you get Robin DLC with an extra skin plus three Batman skins to use in game. Remember it’s also pretty much confirmed that all of these will be available eventually to buy as DLC, but that may take awhile and plus you’ll probably have to pay so I guess chose whichever Batman you want most!
